Doula
by Princess Daisy Boo ini am considering doing a course to become a doula.
this is a complete change in direction for me and i am not sure yet whether or not this will turn into a career, but the experiences of being pregnant and giving birth awakened an interest and a passion within me, and whilst i dont really want to go back to school to study nursing and midwifery, i think that the doula course could be a great outlet for this passion i have.. has anyone out there got any insight into this practice?
i would appreciate your thoughts!

Awesome responses - thanks girls!!!
Lou - a doula is a birth companion - an assistant and support for a woman in labour. She doesn't do anything medically for the Mom, not like a midwife or a gynae.
Mrs Smith - thanks for the referral - I will give her a call!
I will let you know when I start the course!

I'm wearing a red.....
by LouBelle in....and black little number tomorrow - with matching "smalls" i don't usually dress up for that day but since i'm feeling good about myself, feeling a little naughty i'm going to be putting on the clingy-ish number.
why not.
i'm even going to be dishing out heart candy to everyone in the office.. a superficial topic sure but if you're feeling good why not tell the world..

I am wearing black panties with little red hearts on them and I have sexy red handbag! My Boss shared her valentine's bouquet with me and I am treating myself to a facial and a head back and neck massage this afternoon, and if Prince Daisy Boo actually remembers to do something romantic for me for Valentine's Day, well bonus...
PS regarding my other thread on the Rocky Horror ticket or the Aftershave - I have bought him the Jeremy Clarkson book instead!

Say thanks and hang it up... please hang it up...!
I painted a picture for my brother and sister in law for a Christmas/Housewarming gift in December 2006 - It is still not up in their house. If they dont like it then they should give it back - I really do like it and it would look great in my house!

Pledge of Allegiance
by Princess Daisy Boo insouth africa is considering bringing in a "pledge" that kids in school will repeat each day.
we never had such a thing as kids growing up, but when the national anthem was sung, we always had to stay seated and not participate.
i remember always hearing about flag saluting in other countries.

I remember always hearing about flag saluting in other countries. I hated that - I hated having to be so different from the other kids.
What was it like for you? What do you think of the pledge, flag raising or flag saluting now?

From Rutherford -2008 Watchtower ="dont have kid's till after Armagedon!"
by Witness 007 inyes i thought rutherford's policy on kid's was dead and the society had wised up....until i read the new "witnesses only" watchtower study magazine...compare.. rutherford's last book "children" 1942 = p.281 "wait until after armagedon to bring children into the world...it is only afew years before the other sheep are gathered to the lord, until armagedon...those with infants during armagedon will have greater woe...it would be a far greater difficulty to care for them during the tribulation.".
watchtower 2008 april 15 p.19 {picture of a middle aged couple witnessing with question: why do some christian couples decide not to have children?
} paragraph 12 "single or childless for a noble purpose.....numerous couples have decided to remain childless....they often do so to remain freer to serve jehovah...they are willing to place kingdom interests above some of the privileges that go with marriage...jehovah will not forget their work, and the love they show for his name...there will be a great tribulation...doubtless, it will be a difficult time for all of us-adults and children alike.".

When I found out I was expecting our fist baby, my hubby and I were ecstatic - we decided to call eachother's moms to tell them the good news.
I called his Mom and she was over the moon - this was her first grandchild and she was so happy.
He called my Mom (her first grandchild too!) and her first words to him were "Oh No - how can you bring a baby into this world - that is so cruel"
My husband was shocked and upset - what kind of a reaction is that to news about the most amazing event to happen in our lives. I tried to explain her reaction and but he has never forgotten those words!
What I find interesting is surely a large portion of their growth is dependant on children growing up as JW's and getting baptised? So why discourage that kind of growth?

First rock concert
by JK666 ini have recently talked with other members on jwd about the first time they went to a concert.
it was interesting the different choices of artists, and the age we were when we finally went to one.. my first was after i got my driver's license, so i was 16 years old.
i went to see a concert with black oak arkansas, foghat, and montrose (when sammy hagar was just a pup).

My first concert was Duran Duran (in the rain) and I was about 14... I have a cousin about 7 years older tan me and trusted by my mom and dad and she always allowed me to tag along with her to things!
Most recent was Pink and prior to that was REM!
Most memorable was U2 - my hubby and I had just met when they announced that U2 would be touring here the following year. He bought 2 golden circle tickets and gave them to me for safekeeping - he had absolutely no doubt that we would still be together the following year!
